Pomegranate NFC Juice or Pomegranate Juice Concentrate
Pomegranate is between a lemon and a grapefruit in size, with a rounded hexagonal shape, and has a thick reddish skin and around 600 seeds. The seeds and surrounding pulp, ranging in colour from white to deep red, are called arils.
The taste of a pomegranate differs depending on the subspecies and its ripeness, and therefore can be very sweet or sour. Most fruits are moderate in taste, with sour notes from the acidic tannins contained in the aril juice. Grenadine syrup is made from thickened and sweetened pomegranate juice and is used in cocktail mixing.
Pomegranate is native to Southwest Asia and is typically in season from September to February (Northern Hemisphere) and March to May (Southern Hemisphere).
