We manage our supply chain in different ways at E.E. & Brian Smith. One of the key parts of this is to work with trusted suppliers who have the same values as us regarding product quality and safety.  

At E.E. & Brian Smith our technical team helps to ensure that only the best suppliers are approved for us to buy our ingredients from.  

We now have colleagues that help ensure the sustainability of each supplier to ensure we are always supplying the highest quality product at all times.  

Our logistics team are the key to managing our supply chain. In the E.E. & Brian Smith logistics team, there are 5 team members which help ensure that all orders place arrive in good condition and on time. The team has over 70 years of experience between them to handle every order quickly and efficiently.  

Some of our orders are delivered direct from suppliers while for other products we have product in store ready to ship whenever they need an order. We track orders through our system with call off numbers to ensure the correct product, supplier, quantity, delivery address, customer and booking reference are kept together.  

We use nominated transporters to arrange pick up from our suppliers and deliver to our customers on their specified day. If the goods are being collected from one of our suppliers not in the UK, then export and import documents need to be organised for shipment into the UK.  

The team monitors every delivery and on its impending arrival arrange for the appropriate clearances and deliver to the nominated store or customers address.  

Sometimes some of our suppliers organise all the transport to UK – this often occurs on products like IQF Strawberries.  

There are always challenges with working in the supply chain including loads which have shifted in transport, haulier breakdowns and customers might reject the product on arrival! Our supply chain team are always on hand if anything untoward should ever happen to quickly solve the problem.
